Widget Bucks For Me
On 2nd of October a new CPC based contextual advertising network called Widget Bucks was launched. I heard about if from many people on Digital Point forum, so finally decided to join. This is what my experience with them as of now
I joined the network on around 10th of October and added their links on 4 of my very low traffic sites to check them. After around 4 days, I did not see much results and for around 5,000 page views (that they report), I got only $4.00, which is not very bad as per the CPM ($1CPM) but the CTR is low.
I read many people reporting on the forum that they are getting very good CTR, and hence earning very good CPM of $4 or $5. The reason for them is that they are right now in a niche which Widget Bucks in serving. They are currently serving following niche:
- Video Games
- Sports and Outdoors
- Musical Instruments
- Media
- Kids and Family
- Jewelry and Watches
- Home and Garden
- Health and Beauty
- Camera and Photo
- Electronics
- Computers
- Clothing and Accessories
- Cars
- Green Living
But none of my sites in these niche, so how do I get benefited from this site?
If it is not working for me, but working for many others, why don’t I get some part of their earnings.
Yes, I started advertising Widget Bucks in some forums through my signature and by some other means as well.
As of today, I have got 16 referrals and I am hoping that some of them would be able to earn some good amount and I will receive the 10% of their earning for next 12 months. Lets see how this thing goes.
Widget Bucks is paying people $25.00 just for registering with their network and a very good CPC. They also have a referral system where you get paid 10% of the earnings of the people you have referred to them through your referral link.
But remember, if you are not in the above mentioned niche, you may not get that very high click thru rate.
Widget Bucks pays through check or papyal after 45 days of the month end (NET45). So the first earning from them will be payed in the month of December 2007.
Now lets see how much I earn with them directly and how much my affiliates bring my in revenue, which I will know in the first week of November (They update the referral into your account in the first week of next month).
So, if you want a part of this new advertising network join them today.
Current number of referrals: 16
I will keep posting my number of referrals every week here to track them.
Here is my affiliate link if you want to join as my affiliate:

Edit: At Thu Oct 18 12:14:42 PDT 2007 total number of referrals are 71 at widget bucks.
Edit: At Sat Oct 20 11:06:32 PDT 2007 total number of referrals are 118 at widget bucks.
Edt: At Sun Oct 21 09:19:06 PDT 2007 total number of referrals are 129 at widget bucks. Now my adwords campaign is over. Only signature links in some forums are working.

Great going Jim. I wish I would have started early as well. But I still have to see whether they pay or not. What do you think? Do you think they will pay?

I have put it on my site and its looking good. Especially the CTR is around 4-5% which is much better than adsense. But i do get a lower number of impressions on WB since their flash takes quite some time to load.

you know Shoemoney bad mouthed widetbucks. A lot of people reckon its a very dodgy program too. I mean which comapny can afford giving away 25USD to every referal which comes along and signs up.

Publishwer Weblog, Shoemoney bad mouthed because it did not work for him. Also because he thinks that this was his idea and somebody else has implemented it. I don’t see any other reason. So that bad reviews was totally braised.
Ok. So I have crossed 125 referral mark. I hope I earn at-least $125 from my referrals for the month of October. Lets see how much it makes me.

Hey Jim, great article.
I’m from Bulgaria and here we have some doubts about the payment system - paypal pays within a week. Checks (like adsense’s) take a week to arrive. But nvm this - by my oppinion Widget Bucks has a relatively new PPC fraud detection system. Many people don’t get the “allowed” ratio (ClicksPage Views>, so their earnings get flamed. Since you’re some time on the scene now, how will you comment this?
Cheers!
p.s. how much were you receiving per referral, again?
Widget Bucks Referral System Review responded on 22 Oct 2007 at 2:26 am #
[…] Widget bucks is a contextual CPC based program launched in the first week of this month. I have blogged about them before here. They had a good referral program where they will pay 10% of the referral’s earning for next 12 months. This is the review of my campaign I run for getting the referrals. Read on… When I heard about Widget Bucks, it was already a week from their launched. So many people had already registered with them. So I also registered with them. My sites did not performed very well with them. But I read on many forums that this network was working very good for some of them. […]

After using widget bucks for one week on a few of my blogs I have found it to be more profitable then adsense. It is important to mention that my blogs are product specific so my readers are interested in these type of products. If you blog is not product specific you may run into poor ctr.

Hi Jim,
I want to know some of the sites related to taking surveys /www.paidsurveysonline.com. I just went through this site. They are asking 35$ initially. After that we can earn daily 300$ based on filling survey forms. Is it true ?

nice review. I’ve been using AdSense in my blog so far but it I haven’t been earning much. (It’s a personal blog so ppc doesn’t work in general). But this looks pretty inviting to me, i’ll join it:)

Widgetbucks closed my account and I have no idea why. I had made over $100, they checked the stats and decided there had been “invalid clicks”. I protested, pleaded, wrote several letters, sent them stats, insisted that I had never clicked my ads (as if I would be that stupid)… but it was all to no avail and of course I lost the money.
I was like “please, keep the money, just tell me where the bad traffic is coming from” but they wouldn’t.
The lesson…? Never put all your eggs in one basket with internet marketing. Diversify. And never take it personally, just get up and get back in the game.

I made a bad mistake. Please can you delete the above comment Jim. It was Bidvertiser that closed me down, not Widgetbucks. Widgetbucks is great! Sorry, moment of confusion….

Thank you for a great post. I realize this a slightly aged post, but was wondering if you still recommend/use this widget?
Thank you for your time and consideration.
