Widget Bucks Referral Campaign
Widget bucks is a contextual CPC based program launched in the first week of this month. I have blogged about them here before. They have a very good referral program where they pay 10% of the referral’s total earning for next 12 months. This is the review of the campaign I ran for them to getthe referrals.

When I heard about Widget Bucks, it was already a week from their launch date. So many people had already registered with them. I also registered with them, but my sites did not performed very well with them. But I read on many forums that this network was working very good for some of the people. Some of the people getting good CTR and eCPM.
So, I decided to get some earnings from their referral system and get some referrals for that. Now how to go about it? I decided to try two things:
- I bought 10 signature links from some new members at the Digital Point forum for $64 in total.
- I started a CPM based “attention grabbing” Google Adwords campaign on Digital Point with titles like “Are You an Idiot”, “Adsense Sucks”, “Adsense is a Joke” and “Forget Adsense Now” for $100. Attention grabbing idea courtesy to Aditya.
All the signatures were bought on 16th October for a period of one month. So those will last till 16th November. The Google Adwords campaign was run for 4 days and it is over.
Now when the campaign is over, I tried to get the statistics on how well the campaigns performed.
Here are my stats:
Total Clicks (including bots): 1039
Google Adwords Clicks: 245
DP Signature Clicks: 316
Direct Hits: 358
From jimkarter.com: 19
From yahoo.com Search: 9
From google.com Search: 2
Total Conversions at WidgetBucks: 133
Now, how I was able to track those stats?
I registered a domain http://www.widget-bucks.com which I redirected to referring URL referring url. So on that website I was able to track all the click statistics.
There is one more thing I figured out in this campaign. Did you see “Direct Hits: 358” in the campaign? I never told anybody about this website or clicked on the url (except once to verify), but still it got 358 direct visitors to the site. That means some people just move the mouse over the link and then type the link in the browser.:) But I got them too as referrals.
So, am I happy with my campaign?
Yes. I was expecting the cost of per referral to be around $2 as I entered little late in the game. But what I got is 133 referrals for the cost of $164. Means $1.23 per referrals. I am happy with that. And those 10 referral links still have 25 more days to go. So I am expecting some more referrals.
How much I am expecting to make with the referrals?
The minimum I am expecting that at-least half of those referral will reach their payment threshold for the month. For the first month they need to earn around $25 to be get paid. So, if even 66 (less than half) referrals reach their payment threshold ($25 for the first month), I will surely be getting $2.5 for each of them, that is $165 for the month. That is net profit of $1.00 ![]()
Though my fair expectations is to get around $250 per month for next 12 months.
Lets see how it goes. Will update on this in the first week of November when the revenue from referrals are posted for us to see.

Very nice job on sign ups! I would not plan on 50% hitting the mark on the first month. More like 10% The nice thing is you still have 12 months from sign up date and chances are one of the affiliates over the course of time will be a big fish. 10% of a big fish =
