I have heard many people saying this: money is in the list. So, some months back I started monetizing part of my traffic though various auto-responder based lists. For that, I register with the best auto-responder service called Aweber. Their pricing initially looked quite high for me, but now I am happy that I have registered with them.

Anyways, this post is not about my sites and how I am using the auto-responder service on them. This post is about how I am monetizing my Clickbank lists?

Clickbank list? What is that?
Well. I have two interview and resume related sites. I make around 2 sales a day on them through Clickbank affiliate programs as an affiliate. When you make an affiliate sale, Clickbank provides quite some information about the buyer to you, like his or her name and email address. So, can I put that information to some use? Can I use the names and email addresses of people who I know are actually in my niche and actually have to power and interest to buy on internet.

Thats where the idea of “Clickbank list” striked to me. I started adding information from all new sales at those two sites to two different lists by sending them the first letter something as:

“Thank you for buying the XYZ product through our affiliate link. We really appreciate it. Thats why we would like to offer you a free course on ABC product (related to XYZ). If you subscribe by clicking on the link below, you will receive 7 great chapter of ABC.”

And, when people subscribe (and 70% do), they are added to the auto-responder list, where they get the 7 chapters related to to th other product (and always a link to buy them through my affiliate link).

I do the same thing on my other ABC site and giving them 7 free chapters of XYZ. So I have two very good lists of people. And, when I advertise my products related to XYZ and ABC, these lists convert like anything, because I know those are the people who are in these niche and are the buyers. So the clickbank lists are really a great idea to convert your existing buyers to buy your other related products.

Some people might ask whether it is legal and ethical to use those people’s contact (name and email addresses) to your use? Well I think yes. I think it is legal and ethical because of two reasons. Those are my visitors and I am sending them to buy the product and second, I am asking their permission to send them any of those emails.

So, if you are promoting some Clickbank products, just try this to promote some other related affiliate program (which again can be a related Clickbank product) and use very good auto-responder service. I would highly recommend you Aweber. They have all the things required for an effective autoresponder. The best part is that you can have unlimited number of lists in one account for that fixed amount of payment.
