Paypal Virtual Credit Card (VCC)

These days people are looking for more and more virtual credit cards for doing their online business or shopping. Now there is a good news. Paypal is about to offer an online virtual credit card called “PayPal Secure Card.”

It is being launched today for US customers. International customers will see it soon as well. Reuters repots that this step of Paypal is in response of Google checkout service. Paypal is tying up with Mastercard to create your unique virtual credit card number.

So where does it help us people using Paypal?
The biggest benefits to us is that we can use our paypal funds even at places where paypal is not an accepted mode of payment. We can just make the payment through our virtual credit card and the payment will be deducted from our Paypal account.

So, overall thats a great step by Paypal. It will increase their use and market share, and will help Paypal users as well.

Edit: I am not very happy the way they have implemented it. I downloaded the plugin and installed it on my computer. I use firefox browser. It keeps popping an inline window on every page I visit which has an online form. I hate that. I have not downloaded any form-filler. :( Also, many times it is slowing down my browser like anything. So, as of now I have disabled it, but I think it is time to remove it. :( Sorry paypal.

But I am afraid that VCC will increase the cases of fraud as it has no name on it.

I am not sure it will increase such cases. Though it is called “Virtual Credit Card”, it is actually a debit card, which is linked to your paypal account. So its just another way of paying from your paypal account.

Is it available in India? Paypal is asking for me to add bank account repeatedly even after I added one to enable this feature. And after installing the plug-in, the login from the plug-in’s pop-up is not working and it says wroog log-in

We should learned to abandon Paypal for good..why would i get my virtual card from Paypal? Paypal security is very low and as result many fruadsters got paypal passwords and users name and they as they want..

I wake up and all my fund disappeared…
I got already VCC for many sites issuing it such as worldwide-virual-visacards.com and card444.com

So its not a BIG deal if paypal got virtual card

@nasir: you have to pay more than $25 bucks for each card, whereas you get the paypal cards for free. so how do those merchants with no records fare better than PP?

besides, i think pp is pretty secure. it’s your fault you lost all your funds. most probably what happenned is that you fell for a phishing site duplicating the paypal template, you probably entered your user:pass on those scam sites.

additionally, i don’t think all your funds can vanish without a trace. if you’ve got half a brain, you’ll know who and where those money went to… it’s simple point n click
