Can StumbleUpon Bring Traffic?

There were times when I submitted many of my sites’ and blogs’ pages to StumbleUpon to bring in some traffic. But what it brought me mostly is just around 50 visitors. So, I was just thinking whether StumbleUpon can actually bring you some good traffic?

With my experience, I see that for “just another web page”, StumbleUpon doesn’t brings much useful traffic. But then I also remember that this is a social book marketing web 2.0 site and some good content and link baiting types of pages works great with social bookmarking related sites. So I decided to give it a try and see how StumbleUpon work with pages which people actually like to see.

To test this, I submitted my November Earnings related blog post to StumbleUpon in generic “Internet” section of StumbleUpon. Here is the graph of the traffic coming from it. I submitted it 4th December 2007.

StumbleUpon Traffic

So in total of 11 days (4th December 2007 to 14th December 2007) from the date of submission to StumbleUpon, it brought more than 4000 visitors.

This clearly shows that if your blog post has something which people are actually interested in seeing/reading they will surely stumble it and bring you more and more traffic.

But does this traffic convert? Well not much, I didn’t see much increase in my adsense and other earnings.

    Hey Jim,
Well i would like to know that, do you exchange stumbles with other users, or only you stumble your articles?

And also, how many stumbles would you think, will bring some huge amount of traffic?

Stumbleupon works great for anyone that wants free traffic. I recently did a test and it sent me tons of visitors.

I usually end up receiving over 200+ hits within 24 hours of stumbling my own sites. I have noticed, however, that stumbles ONLY help me if I do the review and tags on the sites. A simple stumble with nothing else does almost nothing for the site.

    Hey Jim

Yeh it definitely depends on the quality of the post. Also, if a poerful stumbler gives you a thumbs up early on my guess is that helps too.

I have received a few thousand stumblers over the past week and yeh like you said, they deliver a pretty low CTR. I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth it.
