Psychology of Persuasion for Affiliate Marketing

Monetize your web site

influence-persuasion-online-marketing.pngRecently I studied a great marketing book called Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion by great psychologist Robert B. Cialdini which describes some great phychology of persuasion and how it can be used for marketing. I have learned a lot of things from the book which will surely make me a better online marketer. I have used the techniques mentioned in the book for online marketing and have written a small document on it.

There are mainly 6 laws of persuasion:

  1. Law of Reciprocity
  2. Law of Commitment and Consistency
  3. Law of Liking
  4. Law of Scarcity
  5. Law of Authority
  6. Law of Social Proof

I have written a small 4 page document on how the laws of persuasion can be used to increase your online sales.

In short, if you use these laws on your online sales page or on the site, your chances of sales increase many fold:

  1. Law of Reciprocity (Offer something free and visitor will be obliged to return favor (result sale))
  2. Law of Commitment and Consistency (Ask question with “yes” as answers, visitor will say yes to product too)
  3. Law of Liking (Prove that you are like them, visitor will start liking you and result in more sales)
  4. Law of Scarcity (Only last 2 copies left, visitor mindset is to grab it, even if he doesn’t need it)
  5. Law of Authority (Experts says its good. If it is good for experts, it should be good for me as well)
  6. Law of Social Proof (Testimonials and Comments)

You can read more details on it in the document I have written. Its a pdf document. Just download it.

Also, I highly recommend the book Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion (aff link) for anybody who is into online sales and affiliate marketing. Its really a great book.
