Making Money in “Make Money Online” Niche

PerformancingAds

Make money onlineI have received some emails from some new readers who are new to internet business and they wanted to make some money online. Most of them were about to do a big mistake. They were planning to make money in the “make money online” niche.

Why is it a mistake?
Making money in this niche is not an easy task. Here are some of the reasons why it may not be a very good idea to start your online business in “make money online” niche:

  • It is already a saturated niche with some big players like shoemoney.com, johnchow.com, problogger.net and some then thousand others.
  • People mostly visiting such sites are webmasters and most of them are banner blind. So it is very difficult to make money from webmasters.
  • Most of the people in this niche already know, and tell the tricks in this field. So it would be difficult to find and write something new which is not known to them.
  • CPC costs in this niche is much less than others niches like finance, auto, health etc.
  • If you find something new/great in this niche, it gets copied/duplicated quite fast on blogs bigger than yours as well in some other form. And they get the credit instead of you.
  • Big SERP competition in this niche for not so big money.

So, in what niche you should try to make money? Try something which is of interested to you. It can be anything. My suggestion, think outside “make money online” niche. Spend some time, do some good research and find a niche which interest you and does not have big competition.

I dont agree with you. This niche attracts more newbie visitors than you think. There are more people looking to earn online that buy something or read silly product reviews.

You said that most people are webmasters and banner blind, its true but only 20% are like that. 80% are newbies who will ‘Do as I say’.

I have a site in that niche earningmethods.com and its doing well! I target newbies, not webmasters.

Can’t decide whether to go with Jim or Deepak, as Making money online niche is dominated by some biggies as Jim said, but yeah newbies don’t see whether they are going to the right way or not. So there are still many newbies in webmastering who can help us make money online ;)

    Hi Jim,
You are right. It’s not easy to earn from “make money online” niche. But that is a good way to learn how to make money online.

When I start a make money online blog it will be for vanity rather than profit. I feel that being a newbie at making money online should surely preclude someone from being an expert at making money online. Therefore it should not be considered as a target niche and the new webmaster should write about something they love as Jim mentioned.

I especially agree with 2 and 3 but I also think that 5 can be turned into an advantage.

You’re so right. Newbies are going to have a tough time making money in the make money niche since like you pointed out correctly that it is one of the most saturated.

That said however, it can also be seen as the school of hard knocks. The make money niche teaches you about keyword research, seo and all the other nitty gritty tricks that other niches would never touch on.

So in a way, after going through the make money niche boot camp, you can take your knowledge and apply it to other niches to make money online - hopefully with more success.

    Strongly disagree.

There is potential for everybody in any field, no matter how much it’s already exploited or beaten to death.

Or maybe you don’t want any further competition ;)

I agree with some of you that there is money in this field. But I am talking about people who are entering into internet business. So these are good places for them to learn but if they make such blogs, I am not sure they can earn big with them.

    What do you say?

    Well…

I would just say few things here which will help all of us to understand what exactly is happening with this kind of NICHE.

First of all i would say Making Money online Niche is very good and unique in its own caregory, as far generating money from this NICHE is very much difficult since competition is very much HIGH. New guys who are starting this will need TON of efforts to get this going since it needs HUGE experience which can only come from the professionals having 5 years + experience.

So we can conclude that this NICHE is good payer provided you have experience in this field, I personally RUN one website for people to whom i teach how to make money online, i started that website before quite a some time and got TON of clients for who asked me to Design Websites for them and optimize them in order to generate money for them online.

At this point of time i have clients across the GLOBE to whom i show how to make money online :)

Yes. People experienced in this field can surely make good money by teaching others. But what I am intending to say is that this is not the niche for newbies.

  12. Womens Health Mag responded on 10 Feb 2008 at 6:01 pm #

Yes, it’s not for newbies, only because as a noob, you are just learning this stuff.

Now, if you made the blog about your journey on making money online, that might be ok for noobs, right?

    What do you think?

  13. jimkarter responded on 10 Feb 2008 at 9:55 pm #

Ya, I think so. If you put everything on the blog, your successes and failures, people can learn from them.

  14. Carol responded on 11 Feb 2008 at 4:11 am #

“Try something which is of interested to you”…Is that mean you advise the reader to make blog with special topic? If so, I prefer to visit regularly blog which have multiple topics…However that blogs are more interested since we can discuss and add my knowledge about many kind of topics. I only visit blog with certain topic, only when I need information about the related topics.

Sanjai, Failing will surely teach you few good things. Like, what not to do. Keep up the work, don’t let your enthusiasm go down.

How can a person tell “how to maky money” if he never earned money himself.

  19. Richard Legg responded on 06 Mar 2008 at 4:25 pm #

I agree to a certain extent. The “make money” niche (if you can call it a niche) is very saturated but there are a ridiculous number of ways that you can promote a site.

One thing I’ve found is that by staying in this niche, is that I’ve ended up with a pretty good “education” on internet marketing in general.

This gives you the ability to then go into other niches where people are less educated and potentially dominate these smaller niches. That can be a lot more profitable than just going after the “make money” crowd.

    I agree with cozmo.
There will always be room whatever the niche because people move on. They may leave the industry or find a better niche so there’s always room to make a mark, especially if you work hard from the beginning.

Thanks for all the great tips Jim.
    More a Bible than a Blog. :)

  21. Bloggers Paycheck responded on 11 Jul 2008 at 11:32 am #

This niche may not be for newbies, but it is definitely possible to earn an income from the “make money” niche, as long as you understand what your doing and what needs to take place in order to make money.

You said CPC costs less for make money online keywords? Well, that is good for the advertiser, because they will get cheap clicks - bad for the person using Adsense. One thing I notice when I run PPC campaigns - These words in fact, are NOT cheap….
