Few Changes to JimKarter.Com
Today, I made some changes to this blog. Some of them were for security reasons where others were for feature additions and google new policy changes.
Here is the list of changes I have done:
- Added a sitemap. This sitemap was created from a useful Wordpress called dd-sitemap-gen. This will fulfill two purposes, first, it will help readers the posts easily and second, it will help search engines find each and every page of the site.
- Added related posts feature on the post detail page. It will help interested users find more posts related to the current post user is reading. I used the related entries wordpress plugin for it.
- Added new privacy policy to the site. This is in accordance with the recent Google policy changes. I recommend others also to put a privacy policy on their websites and blogs.
- Upgraded my Wordpress from version 2.0.4 (yes, I know I was using very old Wordpress) to 2.3.3 today. The upgrade almost went smoothly while bringing the blog to maintenance mode for some time.
Next thing I am planning to do is to enhance the performance of my blog by using some caching mechanism. Lets see if there is a plugin already for it.
Is your blog using latest wordpress? Have you put up the privacy policy? If not, its the time to do so.
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Hello-
You can make the Wordpress upgrade process much easier by using their Automatic Upgrade plugin:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-automatic-upgrade/
I use it to keep all my blogs up to date now. Very easy to use and keep your blog safe.
Thanks,
Adam

Regarding privacy policy, do you use any privacy policy generator?

I’m not sure about adding the “related posts” plug-in to my blogs. Have you heard much feedback about it yet?
