For Affiliate Marketing Newbies

Many times I get asked a simple question from newbies:

I am a newbie to affiliate marketing and PPC, can you let me know few tips and tricks to getting started?

Well, I don’t have any tricks, but yes, there are some tips.

I think the easiest way to learn affiliate marketing and PPC is to try it yourself. What is the simplest place to start? In my opinion, many online marketers have started and having good success with clickbank, and is a good place to start. I recommend it.

Affiliate MarketingFor newbies in this field, its is difficult to make websites (or landing pages) as it involves a lots of different stuff. So, the simplest way is to start an advertising campaign at YSM (Get $100 free), MSN Adcenter ( Get $50 free) and Adwords (Get $50 free) and send the traffic directly to advertiser’s website. It is not the best way, but it is the simplest way to start. Remember to do a little bit of research and try to choose a non-saturated clickbank niche for your campaigns. Use that free $200 to learn and optimize your campaigns. Try to find the very long tail keywords for the niche, as prominent keywords will have high CPC. You can use softwares like keyword elite to find those keywords.

affiliate marketing for PPCDon’t forget to track your campaigns, because it is not necessary that the campaign you are getting more clicks is the profitable one. You can use softwares like Efficient PPC to create one-keyword-per-adgroup sort of campaigns, which helps a lot in tracking. Optimize your campaigns everyday to remove keywords which are not working (read converting) for you.

When you start making some money, then you can think of making your own websites and landing pages.

Do I recommend any products for affiliate and PPC newbies?
I can recommend following products. Please note that these are my affiliate links, but I have used those products and they look good.

Best of luck for your first campaign.

I tried affiliate product (amazon diet) from neverblueads with adwords ppc. The stats is 200 click,
    1,284,880 impression
    0 conversion
    cost $10

How do you think about the statistic above?

Jim, thanks for the links for credits. I’ve read that Yahoo just lowered the minimum bid to below 10 cents so that credit could last twice/three times as long with some long keywords.

    Hi Jim

I just noticed you are recommending Clickbank in this post by on a certain webmaster forum you are saying otherwise.

Have you found any other companies that work? I have tried azoogle and cj.com and tradedoubler and had pretty poor results, clickbank was paying well in January.

Paid Surveys Reviewed, clickbank is having some problem with respect to conversions. But they are still the easiest and have the products which are most easiest to promote.

    Hey Jim,

One of the best ways I’ve found to make a new campaign more profitable is to try and capture the visitors information in an autoresponder before sending them to the direct sales page.

This way you can send them follow up emails and increase your chance of them converting.

Most people will not buy on the first time they see something, so it’s pretty much essential to do this if you want to make a decent profit.

Another benefit is that you can also cross promote different but related products. Sometimes you’ll find people who will buy more than one product if it’s related.

    All the best,

    Richard
