Blog Stats for February 2008
Another month is over and its time to look back on how did it go. Before I calculate my earnings for the month of February, I thought I would see how did I do on my blog. How much page views I got, which I take it as my factor to calculate blog success. Also, I want to see how am I doing with respect to my new year resolution of 365 posts in a year (or one post a day).
So this post is about the statistics for my blog jimkarter.com.
Page Views
In the month of January 2008, this blog had 80,000+ page views.
In the month of February, I was expecting little less page views because of less number of days. But to my surprise, I got total of 149,040 page views. That is whooping 87% increase in the page views.
Blog Martics
Here is the screenshot of my blog matrics for the month of February 2008. It clearly shows that I am keeping up with my new year resolution of at-least one post per day. Also, the average number of comments on each post is 14, which is quite good I think. I have thought that this should not be below 10, so that on an average, I should have 10 comments per post.
Ranking Stats
The other factors I track with respect to my blog are:
- PageRank
- Alexa Rank
- Technorati Rank
- Total number of back-links to the main domain (Counted on Yahoo Search)
Here is the ranking screenshot from my rank page.
Few findings from the screenshot:
- PageRank stayed same
- Around 60% increase in RSS subscribers (Mostly because of $500 contest)
- 10,000+ jump in Alexa ranking, which is quite good
- 45,000+ jump in Technorati ranking
- Around 1,000 new backlinks to the homepage of the blog
Overall, I am happy with how I did for the month of February 2008. Lets see how this new month of March goes. I will be posting my earnings quite soon on this blog. I am expecting to cross $50,000 in total earnings from my various websites this month. Lets see.

I think I am not even close to what you are making. Though Feb month was good for me, I only made $3000 this month and there is long way to go to make $50000.
Probably, I would be looking for more tips from you to take me along

Jim, how many websites you administrator for making $50000 per month, it’s huge amount! I am just $2-3K as of now.

Yes, I manage around 200 websites. And yes, in Feb, I crossed that $50K mark

I know you intentionally don’t share the URLs for your sites, and I can certainly understand that.
However, could you share just one of them with us? I’d be very curious to see how you actually incorporate the ads into the site and stuff like that.

Micky, most of my sites are “Made by Engineer” sites, some people call them “bad looking sites”. So there is nothing special in any of the placements, Its just one (or max two) adsense banner at the top. Its just that I received atleast a million impressions a day.
