February 2008 Earnings: $55,123

February is a short month and so were my expectations, in terms of earnings, from the month. In January (last month), I made $47,750 from my various sites. So I was expecting, I would make around $45,000 or so in the month of February (29 days).

But to my surprize, I crossed $50,000 mark for the first time (which I was expecting to cross in the month of March 2008) and calculated total earnings at $55,123.

Jim Karter February 2008 Earning Graph

Here are some breakups from earnings:

  • Google Adsense is still the biggest earner at $31,611 (57.3% of total earnings). Last month it was 65% of the total earnings. I am happy that my diverficaton efforts are reaching somewhere.
  • Second biggest earning this time is/are leading edge cash and market health combined at $7472 (13.6% of total earnings). This was a fresh new earnings from this month, as I found some good affiliate programs. to work with last month.
  • The third biggest earner is kontera at $7144.49 (12.10% of total earnings). This is the first time I have crossed $7000 mark with kontera. Kontera is really doing good on my sites. Thanks Kontera.
  • then other good earners are text link ads, click bank, commission junction, burst and casale media.

Here is the earning comparison with my previous month’s earnings:

  • February 2008 : $55,123 (this month)
  • January 2008 : $47,750
  • December 2007 : $41,300
  • November 2007: $45,000
  • October 2007: $41,900
  • September 2007: $40,000

What are the expenses?
Total expenses for the month of February is below $1000, which includes hosting and SEO work.

How abour March 2008? What sort of earnings do I expect?

  • I expect adsense earnings to remain stable at around $31K to 32K mark. This month I got some good adwords referral bonus and some other good one time referrals.
  • I expect my leading edge cash and market health earnings to be bigger than $7500 mark, because these ads were put on 8th of February. The $7472 earnings for the month is only from 21 days. And now I have full 31 days in March.
  • I will try my best to increase my kontera earnings to cross $8000 for March (currently at $7144).
  • Text-link-ads is getting sort of stagnant, so now I will push TNX little harder and try to bring in more money from it. TNX is really good and I like them.
  • Recently I have added adtoll to some my sites (including jimkarter.com). I am expecting quite good earnings from them as well.

So overall, March 2008 should be a good month. Let us see if I can break $60,000 mark in March (Am I getting over aggressive? :( ) . If things go as expected, I think make it.

Congrats on hitting the 50k mark.
I’ve been pretty inspired after seeing your adsense earnings but seriously, there are easier ways to make money than adsense..

I’m pretty much stuck at $60k mark for Feb., and am trying to inch towards $100k by April.

    Lets see :D

No Nesa, I still live in a 3 bedroom house. I am not earning this much from years. It just has been an year or two. I still have to buy that car you see in the header of this blog (thats my dream porche 911)

About Kontera, I have a fixed CPM deal.

    @Dman
Well I have posted some screenshots in the past but those are related to something else, like biggest month, or bonus, or affiliate doing great etc., and not related to proving something. :)

    @Andreas
Oh yes, adsense ads are long gone.:) I have just added 3 links saying “Recommended.”

  45. Online Community Building responded on 04 Mar 2008 at 12:38 pm #

Jim - Mentioning what sites you use AdSense on will not get you banned! In any case, it’s a shame you won’t mention what sites you make money from - how can you have a ‘Make Money Online’ blog without actually showing people how and where you make money?

Anyway, that’s some great revenue you are making there - I too, would be hesitant in sharing how I was making it!

Good luck for the future :)

  48. nesa responded on 04 Mar 2008 at 3:37 pm #

I believe Jim, however, I think some of your other readers are starting to doubt your figures a bit unless you show some sort of proof to convince them. The way they see it is anyone can just come with some arbitrary figure in order to get more readership, reputation as an online money making guru.

I think your blog may lose some credability unless you divulge some of these figures.

Just look at the number of responses that have asked you to show some sort of proof.

Anyway, I will make my daily visit here because your advice is invaluable whichever you way you look at it. I have no doubt you are making these figures, however.

@ Jim, parato rule rocks isn’t it.

I think posting about revenue figures is not bad idea - don’t stop keep it going - that certainly would help you get some reputation. I need not to discuss more on this. Even I used to think that John Chow, Shoemoney are only the guys who make this kind of money.

If you start revealing few websites, you never know - your readers will be regular to those sites as well. But this is not our ultimate aim anyways.

Incredible site; I just came upon it today. A couple questions since you seem to have mastered this:

    1) Do you find that for a blog, the loss of traffic from searches is worth syndication with a bigger site? I just posted an example of this wrt SeekingAlpha:

    everydayfinance.blogspot.com/2008/04/calling-all-bloggers-advice-on.html

Any advice from yourself or readers, please add here or comment on my article.

    2) I noticed the leading edge cash earnings. My site’s not adult oriented, but I figure most investors/traders reading my blog are guys; and many are bloggers. Do you tend to derive the majority of your revenue from new signups and their sales or from the actual sales themselves from your site? Just curious whether I should try and add it to my site.

    3) You mentioned bum marketing; can you define that please?

    Thanks, and rock on!
