Questions Answered: Set 2

Monetize your web site

QuestionsThis is the set 2 of our “questions answered” series. If you have any questions in mind about how to make money online, internet marketing or SEO, feel free to ask them here.

Ok, so lets start with the first question:

“red” asked:

hello jim
I read before “Can Quickie Sites Make Money?”. There are small advices for us in that post for unique content.
Now my quesiton
Can you teach us making unique content from article (for example yahoo cell phone’s articles)
how we can change those article to our unique article

red, for each niche you need to find some specific synonyms for at-least 500 words. As I have discussed in my post about quickie sites, you need to write a small script or function in your script which replaces these synonyms. you create a synonym file with each line having “word|synonym” format. Now in the script you open the file read line by line and split the line with a “|”. Then search and replace every existence of the first word with the second one.

“tantovi” asked:

After a year I made money from adsense $60/month. My question is how to double my income with adsense in short term period?
My options are:
-using jetspinner
-posting 10 article daily
-using adwords (not mfa)
-sell affiliate product (my traffic only 800 unique daily)
thanks for your help

tantovi, if you want to double the income, my first suggestion would be to double the content. Then you can use all the SEO techniques (directory submission, article submission etc.) to double to the traffic. Also, don’t forget to diversiy your earning sources. Some advertising networks like kontera does not reduce your adsense earnings, and you can earn with them some extra revenue. And yes, please give it time to grow, don’t try to hurry up things.

“Harshad” asked:

Hi jim,
I want to ask you about adding images on websites.
Can I add images on my website from Google image search or any other search engines?
Adding images on the website from such search engines is legal?
If not then what can I do to add images?
If I add such images on my site then what is harm to me or my site?
Please reply.Thanks

Harshad, to add images to your websites, either you should have the permissions from the actual owner of that images (or website) or you can search for images which are in public domain (copyright friendly images). Just search in google for “public domain images” and you will find many websites which allow images to be used from their websites. So, to answer your question in short, no, you cannot pick images directly from search engine image search. If the copyright owner of the images sees it, you may be sued (after giving a cease and desist notice).

“Dhingra” asked:

How do I find affiliate products that make money, and how do I promote them? Hot links from adwords or with a landing page?
I have chosen a few products from CB, i get some clicks - but no conversions.

To find affiliate programs join affiliate networks. Most of the affiliate networks shows some kind of benchmark on which products are working fine. For example, some network will show EPC (earnings per click) for each program while others (like clickbank) will show similar other factors like gravity etc. If you are just starting in affiliate marketing then you can try direct linking to affiliate site. But if you are experienced, then making a good landing page really helps.

“ssbhat” asked:

hi jim,
i am ranking in the first page for some competitive keywords but i’m not able to get conversions…
can you plz make a post about how to increase conversions from your landing pages…
also free ways to build your list plz

My best advice for increasing sales on the landing page would be use all laws of persuasion. This will really help you getting more conversion.

“faith” asked:

Hi jim,
I want to start a first website or blog. It will be about books and literature. What do you think about this niche. By the way, I am not in a hurry. My aims about monetizing is long term, like 3-4 months.
Also, which one is better do you think? A blog or website, for a newbie.

If you have interest in books and you can review them than you can surely use this niche. You can provide good reviews on the book and then provide amazon (paid) link for them to buy the book. Please note that 3-4 months is actually not a long term at all. If you are thinking long term, then you have to think beyond 1 year. For a newbie, I think blog will work better.

“Tanvir @ BareFly.com” asked”

Anyway I am looking for some answers to the questions:
1. How to promote affiliate programs successfully without any investment initially using blogs, article marketing or any other methods like these?
2. How can I make $50 a day from CPA programs? Is there a good free site that teaches to do so?
3. What best advice can you give a newbie affiliate marketer which will bring him success?

1. If you don’t want to invest money (except that the time is also money), I would say write 20 articles and submit to articles directory. Create 5 blogs for 5 related keywords. Similarly create 5 squidoo etc. pages for related keywords and link them with your affiliate program. You should have atleats 50 pages linking to it.
2. You will many programs on the net or being sold at the forums which will teach you how to make $50 a day fast with CPA programs, but I will not recommend any. What I do is simple hard work, good content and SEO. Which takes time but works in long term.
3. Again, my advice would be same. Write good content, and a lot of it. Keep building links through various forms link article directory submissions etc. and give it time. This will bring success but not any quick.

“zam” asked:

You mentioned finding a good niche, making a site or sites about it. The key is the relevet traffic. I don’t think one can merely SEO or even promote it to get 20, 000 users every day quickly. So how do you do it?

zam, I never did it quickly. Most of my sites are around 3 years+ old. I am not sure how can you do it quickly. I am surely not the “help you make rich quick” guy.

“Jenny Pretty” asked:

I have one wordpress blog, what do you think about what page should we place on the homepage? I meant, is it better to put the newest posts on the homepage? or is it better to place the page that includes all links on the homepage? when you set the number of posts on the main page, how many of posts is the best to put on the homepage? (5, or 10, or just 1).
Thanks.

Jenny, if you are actually creating a blog and expecting to register to your RSS and providing feedback through comments, then posting your latest post on the homepage is the best option. If you write very long posts and don’t cut your post in between then I think 5 or 6 posts on the homepage is enough. But if you cut your posts with a “more” tag in wordpress, or write just short posts, then 10 posts would do fine.

If you are creating an information providing sites which you don’t expect much to interact with people, you can put one single page on the homepage.

“Ravi” asked:

I remember, in one of your very old post, you talked about how slowly you go about building your website and doing link building for it. Can you give some live example, so we can follow.

Yes, I think this is a good idea and I will surely create a live example of it and will track it in front of all on this blog.

Ok, so I think thats it for now, the post is getting too long. There are many more questions left. I will take them up in the next set of questions. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them. Don’t forget to register to my RSS if you not done so yet.

    Jim,
    Question about your adsense earning.
Where are the ads layed out and what type of ad blocks are getting the best conversion? I know Google has a hot map feature but you seem to have a real life hot map example with those earning figures.
    Thanks

The truth about adsense is that Google is now stricter about the whole issue. Blogs with contents not constantly replenished will not have adsense appearing. I am not sure if it happens to everyone. But apparently, some of my friends have already experienced this. So, remember to update your blog regularly. Alright?

    Hello Jim-

I have a question about staying focused. Since there are so many ways to make money online, how do you focus on just one and ride it for all it’s worth? I currently have a few sites that make a few dollars each each day.

I like this because if one goes down, all my income does not drop.

But many will tell you that if you focus, you will make more money.

    Thoughts? Suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Adam

Thanks for the answers jim. I appreciate that a lot. Do I have to post regularly on the 5 new blogs or it’s okay if I update them once every week? I figured ezinearticles is good but you don’t get traffic when you stop submitting new articles! I wanted to try jetspinner with the hope that it can at least save me some time but it doesn’t work!
