Case Study: Making Money - Long Term

Many people have asked me this question about how do I go about making websites one after the other . How much time I give the site to grow. What sort of link building do I do? Etc. etc.

So, I have decided to do a case study to show the readers how do I make my sites and how do I do link building for them. At one time, I may be working on many of my sites, but I will just use one of them here to show as an example. In one of my earlier posts, I have shown that my website creation and link building is a long process. It takes time and I am ready to give it the time required. So, it will be a quite long case study.

Case Study
To do the case study, I will be documenting all the steps I am taking to create the website and building the traffic for it. I want to choose a difficult niche for the case study, because it is difficult to bring traffic to difficult niche like health or finance.

Case Study Goal: Show How to Make Money Online in Long Term from Websites.
Time Period: 1 year
Report: Every Month or Twice a Month
Budget: $500
Reinvest: I will reinvest whatever I earn from the site, back into it for one year.
Niche: Health
URL: Chemotherapy
Earning Goal: Making $1000/month after one year. (And, you can do it as many times as you like)

Two days back, I found echemotherapy.com domain being sold at digital point forum. It was an aged domain and was in health niche. I bought it and have put a simple page linking to wikipedia on it(always my first step). This helps google categorizing the site. I am using the same wordpress theme which I used on jimkarter.com with just edited header image.

So, starting from today, I will keep you all updated on this thread once a month or twice a month on the developments of the site. I will also be keeping track of expenses (not to grow more than $500) and earnings.

Current Status
Expenses: $94.00 ($70.00 for domain + $24.00 for hosting (year))
Earnings: $0.00

First Step: (Completed) Buy a domain, setup a hosting, setup one page site, link to wiki, and get one link to the page.

Will be following up with interest. Generous of
    you to share.
Since you have bought the domain from the
forum, I assume it should have cost more than
    reg fee :-)
    Cheers !

Nice domain! good luck with the site! You could have a page with some people’s real experiences through Chemo, some stories would make an interesting read, eg I covered mine a bit a while back

It is great opportunity for me as I have also started a new website related to technology.
I hope your information will help me.

// From where do you design the header for that website ?I really want to know because I also want to make a header image for my website.
Did you bought that header image from somewhere?
    Please reply on that.//

According to me you shouldn’t have displayed the website name because many readers from this site visit to the new website and the result will change as you will be getting more visitors from this website only.

But this is the nice step from you,I appreciate your efforts and task that you have taken.

    Jim,

Thanks a lot for putting the effort. I will make 5 niche website and do all the stuff specified by you as the case study progresses.. So i will highly appreciate if you answer these question.

    1. How many pages, will be there in your website.
    2. What are the monetization method in your mind
    3. According to you, how many unique visitor per day will be required with your niche to reach a goal of $1000/month, I know this vary from niche to niche, but if you give me an estimate, i will be able to select a proper niche.
    4. Which keyword tool you will use, as overture is dead, which other tool can give good traffic estimation? I know, wordtracker can provide the good keyword tool but it does not provide good traffic estimation.
    5. Will you include content writing and link ( which you give from your own site) in the actual budget of $500?

How important is the use of an “aged domain” vs. simply creating your own brand-new domain? How much time does an aged domain save you in terms of getting traffic/indexed?

Where do you personally go to buy these aged domains, what do you look for in an aged domain, also what do you avoid?

    As always, Thank you!
