eBay Dropping Commission Junction?

Monetize your web site

eBay has stopped taking new submissions for their affiliate program at commission junction and is starting their own affiliate program from 1st April 2008. You can register for the new program at http://affiliates.ebay.com from 1st April onwards.

As of today, new signups for eBay affiliate program at CJ are stopped. So currently there is no way you can become their affiliates till the new program is launched.

So, is eBay dropping commission junction completely? I think, no. eBay cannot do that immediately because of the number of people using eBay through commission website. But I think, with time, this number will decrease and eBay will finally drop CJ.

So, how it is going to affect us? It will mostly affect people who are using scripts like BANS and PHPBayPro. These softwares need to release new versions to take care of this new development.

But this (dropping CJ) is not going to happen so quickly, so there is no short term worry.

I was under the impression when I read the e-mail that it was going to be kind of a sudden thing. I think I read somewhere about May 1st… maybe that is the last day for CJ members?

According to ebay it will be fairly quickly that you need to make the changes. As this quote indicates.

“Affected eBay and Half.com affiliates will be required to move their affiliate links over to the eBay Partner Network by May 1st, 2008.”

So unless I am reading this wrong people need to get moving on this.

    Hello-

Now I just have to remember all the domains I have BayRSS installed on…sigh

On the plus side, you can make updates and try out a new theme if you have old sites with the eBay scripts running on them to try and improve their earnings just like with what you did when you changed from Adsense to affiliate links a short while ago.

Ebay has been stopped receiving CJ publishers since December 2007. I applied and received an email saying that they will create their in-house affiliate program and that’s why my application have been declined.

I’ve declined by ebay.com. After Ebay “divorce” with CJ, I hope I will be approved :)

The BANS and PhpPro folks both have said they are getting ready for the switch. Nice because I just bought PhpPro from your affl link Jim!

So, anyone get into the new eBay affiliate program? I signup after a few days they launch the program and I also got rejected almost automatically. They seem to be auto-rejecting anyone who lives outside US.

By all accounts, earning on Ebay’s in house program is nowhere near the level that people were making on Ebay’s program via CJ. People are getting seriously spooked as some were making hundreds of dollars a day via CJ and now are struggling to make 10$ a week.

People are hoping that Ebay have some reporting issues which is causing this problem but Ebay’s lack of communication regarding this is seriously starting to freak people out !
