Long Tail Keywords : Let Visitors Suggest

There are resources like Adwords keywords tool, Overture or Wordtracker to find long tail keywords. But what would you do when your site is ranking top for many keyword searches and you are done finding your long tail keywords in all these tools. Where to look for more?

search-keywords.pngOne of my site is ranking number one on Google search engine and I am receiving around 1.6 million page views a month. I have been adding more and more related content to the site based on long tail keywords I was searching regularly on keywords finding tools. I was now getting less and less long tail keywords there. I am not sure where to look for more.

So what do you do when you can’t get enough long tail keyword ideas from keyword suggestion tools?

I thought a lot about it and then I got this simplest idea. Why not take some help from the visitors of my site. But how will they help me? Well, If I install a search script on my site and people search for what they don’t find on the site, I would get to know at my end what people are looking.

long-tail-keywords.pngI liked the idea. I just went ahead and installed a free search engine called “Fluid Dynamics Search Engine” from http://www.xav.com/scripts/search/ and within a week I had around 3000+ search queries. By seeing those search queries, I have already come up with at-least 300 more long tail keywords to write about. I am sure with time, I will keep getting more and more ideas.

So, next time you run out of keyword ideas, just throw a simple search box in front of your visitors and they will give you the ideas you are looking for.

And remember: Tail is always bigger than head.

Wow…this is useful. When you have nothing to write in your blog, based on the long tail keyword, you can come to many of blog content.

    Hello Jim-

I just installed a similar script on a few of my blogs and it captures what the visitor searches for in my search box. This helps me figure out what to blog about next.

And it’s always nice to give visitors what they want.

    Very cool.

    Have a great day!
