CPM Networks for Indian Websites

Monetize your web site

Indian CPM NetworksI have been asked this question many times in emails as well as in person. Many Indians are having trouble finding the right kind of CPM based affiliate networks for monetizing their websites. So what are the advertising networks which I use on my websites which has content targeted to Indian audiences?

For my India related websites I use following 4 advertising networks:

  • Adsense - Adsense is still the best and provides me eCPM of around $1.00 or so.
  • Axill India - Axill India provides fixed CPM ads at the rate of Rs. 15 CPM, which comes to around $0.38 CPM. Their ads loads quite fast for Indian sites and have variety of ads.
  • The News Room - This is a international news network. I try to get related news to my niche for Indian audiences and put them on the site. They pay fixed $0.50 CPM for images and text news with a banner.
  • Kontera - Kontera is an advertising network which works perfectly with other banner/advertising networks without reducing your earnings from those network.

So, if you are looking for options to monetize your Indian audiences based website, use these networks to get best benefits. Other than these there is one ozone media as well. I have used them but was not very happy so I removed them. Then this ibibo is coming up with a new advertising network as well. Just wait for it to get released.

Thanks for listing those CPM ad networks. Recently, I made a story popular on digg and got approximately 30 - 40k impressions (according to AdBrite) and more on adsense. I could have used these CPM networks which offer fixed rates to earn more. Which CPM network would you recommend me for international traffic? (must be offering decent CPM rates, and fixed).

    Thanks for sharing.
Ibibo should be good considering the publicity
    they generated.

Can I just ask what % of your visitors are from India.

I just note that 3 of the last 4 posts have been India specific.

I would hate for you to focus heavily on things that have no relevance to many of us and loose regular readers.

Just a thought, not meant to be nasty or negative.

    Hi jim ,
    Thanks for your the list.
I heard about the Ads for indians…but never used to it.Is it providing good CPM?

  6. uttoransen responded on 04 Apr 2008 at 7:43 am #

thanks, i will try axill, that’s the only one i have not tried yet!

@harshads, i have tried ads for indians in the past, they are good if you are advertising because it’s cheap but the publisher payout is too low, so not good if you want to monetize your website!

  7. harshads responded on 04 Apr 2008 at 10:30 am #

    @uttoransen,
    Yup,I was expecting it.
I heard about it through some of my friends but just wanted confirm it.

    Thanks for your reply. :)

This is slightly off topic, but I think Kontera makes my blog look crammy. When the number of Kontera links is minimal it does not really adversely affect adsense CTR, but when you have it increased it crams the pages with double underlined words and reduces adsense CTR. The thing is, Kontera’s CTR and CPC is low so it does not compensate for the lower adsense CTR when you have too many Kontera links. I am removing Kontera.

I hope that helps anyone thinking about adding Kontera if their adsense is already doing pretty well.

I am currently using Axill ads for some of my sites… and was satisfied with the performance… But i m seeing some better CPM networks like The News Room… I will use this for my sites as 50cents is descent price :)

  12. Bujes responded on 06 Apr 2008 at 10:11 am #

Have you removed Kontera from this blog?

And another question about Kontera - I have added Kontera’s code in my site, but there are no links on my site. Why?

Hey Jim, I had left comment on this post couple of days back, could you see if it went unnoticed.

  14. harshads responded on 06 Apr 2008 at 9:51 pm #

    @Bujes,
Follow the steps stated by Kontera while installing it in your site.
Yous should add your code before “” tag and not in any other tag.
If everything is correct then ads will appear in 5-10 mins after installing it.

    Hi Jim karter,

Good to see another Indian publisher (much senior than me) into web designing. I have been visiting your blog recently and I like it. Jim perhaps you need to add another CPM network which you perhaps forgot. You forgot adbrite which has been consistent part of my ad income since a long time and they also pay regularly. I am an Indian and have been regularly paid by them. You could ad adbrite in the list of CPM programs as they pay Indians at par with other countries.

    Regards,
    Zaman

  20. Jim Karter responded on 07 Apr 2008 at 9:13 pm #

Yes, adbrite is another good program but only if you have some good number of page views.

  21. Carol responded on 07 Apr 2008 at 9:53 pm #

Nice list…I conclude that adsense still the most used.

Try Viralytics Media or AdBrite. They both monetize international traffic very well.

  26. Jim Karter responded on 01 May 2008 at 8:04 am #

I tried adbrite. Yes, the monetize the international traffic but effective CPM is much low.

  27. Nishu responded on 02 May 2008 at 6:23 am #

i will wait for new eCPM to come up .. 1$ per 1000 really sucks ..

even affiliate commissions by Indian travel websites suck a lot .. they pay Rs 75 if some one books ticket from your site .. how lame

  28. Zaman responded on 03 May 2008 at 7:17 pm #

    Hi there,

I receive checks every month from adbrite and the checks are provided on a net 60 basis. I deposit the checks normally to the NRI bank of ICICI bank account. You can discuss with your bank about the foreign checks deposit and they would be able to help you out.

It takes around fifteen or twenty days for the check to be transported to India.

With ICICI it takes around a month for the check amounts to be credited.

It does take sometime for all the things but this has become a cycle for me when my payments come regularly as the previous checks are credited into my account. It takes a bit of patience.

    Regards,
    Zaman

  29. Zaman responded on 03 May 2008 at 7:25 pm #

    Hi Jim Karter,

You are correct that there must be sufficient pageviews but for many websites (mainly adult websites) adbrite is a very good medium as there are sufficient pageviews in such websites.

For normal websites too, adbrite is quite good if there are good amount of pageviews. Many complain about it but I have not found many good CPM programs for Indians. The good thing about adbrite is that the interface is like adsense where seperate websites need not be approved seperately as is the case of most other ad programs.

Moreover, there is secondary ad option to be shown inside adbrite incase the main adbrite ads does not appear. The pricing options section makes it quite flexible for webmasters.

    Zaman
