Google Adsense Alternatives

advertising networks - make money onlineEvery now and then many people get banned from Google Adsense for whatever reason. I am still a believer of the view that Google will ban you only if you have yourself done something wrong. Not otherwise. But many people have different views on it. Anyways, this post is not about how not to get banned from Google Adsense but on what are the alternatives if you get banned from Adsense. This is one of the most common question asked through email that what are the alternatives to monetize a blog or a website except Google Adsense.

Here is the list of few Google Adsense alternatives:

  • Kontera - Kontera is not exactly the alternative of Google Adsense, but its something with works best with it. This is my second best choice after Adsense.
  • ValueClickMedia - ValueClickMedia is one of the two best CPM/CPC based network (other being CasaleMedia). It is difficult to get accepted into it. But if you get into it with a quality site, nothing like it.
  • CasaleMedia - The second best CPM/CPC based quality network which can make you good money. Not that difficult to get accepted and have many quality campaigns for good CPM and CPC.
  • ClickBank - If you are new to affiliate marketing and want to try selling digital products, this is the best network available for you. You get auto accepted. They have digital products for most of the niches on the net. So whatever the niche of your website, you will find a product to sell on it.
  • Adbrite - Adbrite is also a good Google Adsense alternative for making money online. This works best for website which has huge number of impressions. I use them for not-so-good type of websites which has quite high page impressions.
  • Chitika - Chitika is a network which I think has learned a lot from its mistakes. There was a time it was not that good netowork. But in recent past, they have started different kinds of new products and is really becoming one of the choice of people. It has product like kontera as well.
  • NeverBlueAds - My best choice for proper affiliate programs. They have good collection of advertisers and has quite good support too.
  • Amazon - I use amazon by putting just one or two related books/cd/dvds link on all my sites. It is just just put one related link of a book or related product and forget it.
  • TNX - A new and the best (in my opinion) link selling network which allows you to sell links on any sites (even PR0) sites (with or without traffic). So if you have a new site, you can make some money with TNX by just selling one unique link on a page.
  • WidgetBucks - If you have a website related to electronics products or other shopping related sites, then you can make good money with widget bucks. It doesn’t work well with other type of sites.
  • Adtoll - Adtoll is a new and promising adbrite type of advertising network, which allows you to sell your own links as well as RON links.
  • TextLinkAds - Another way of making money by selling links on your website. This is loosing more and more revenue day by day, but once upon a time, it was the best.
  • Adversal - If you run wallpapers, pictures or celebrity related sites and have not much problem running the pop-ups, then adversal is the best pop up network right now.

There are other networks as well, but these are the ones which I use the most and recommend.

Please note that many of the links above are the referral links.

Hello, thanks for the advices, but I have one doubt: Is still adsense better than all these alternatives?

I have a website with 400,000 impressions and 35,000 visits daily. What you recommend me?

Beside Google AdSense I use Kontera, Widgetbucks and Chitika to monetize my blogs.

Thanks this is just what I’ve been looking for. I really wanted some good CPC alternatives to Adsense so I’ll give Casale a try.

    Thanks for the review, Jim.

Adsense, Chitika, and Kontera work well for me, but the one I’m most surprised with is Amazon.

Visitors not only buy books but many other products (CDs, DVDs, etc.) and the few cents made on each item adds up very fast.

For me, it’s not as much as Adsense, but it’s decent monthly revenue.

Looking at this post I remembered that day when first time I asked you about the same and you gave me such a wonderful explanation.

Many people ask same question to me and I keep on telling them about the name of these adsense alternatives but now I will forward this post link to them.So that they will get proper information. ;)

    Thank you very much.

I never knew that there are lots of alternatives to adsense, but how did adsense manage to drive the rest of them underground? this could be as a result of better pay out plans.

  8. Tech blog responded on 16 May 2008 at 10:40 pm #

    wow.. lot of alternatives
i thought its all over when adsense is gone.

    which one you use ?

  9. Life is Colourful responded on 16 May 2008 at 11:15 pm #

Hey, this is comprehensive list of alternatives. I had tried few of them in past but not focusing more on adsense and direct sales only. By the way, neverblueads is something I never tried again. How are the payouts for neverblueads.

Thanks for the great list Jim!
My question is how good are the CPC sites on delivering content related ads (Adsense seems to be king at this)? I use adbrite and kontera and it seems they are often off on delivering ads that are related to the content of the sites that they are used on.

You did not mentioned bidvertiser - it sometimes don’t count clicks, but once you email them they rectify it, other than then it’s a pretty good adsense alternative!

Is there any alternative for adsense for a general website which offers contextual banners, and not just affiliates! something like YPN which is only limited to USA!

thanks for the post, will try out chitika and see how it works!

  12. Jim Karter responded on 17 May 2008 at 2:21 am #

@Alberto - Untill you can find an affiliate program which is directly related to your website and converts well, Adsense still works better.

@Tech blog - I use almost all of them on a place or other.

@Life is Colourful - Payouts for neverblueads are good and the support is excellent.

@egk - No other advertising is delivered as targetted content ads as Adsense. That is the reason they are market leader.

@Uttoransen - Bidvertiser is another option which I forgot. But they does not convert on all type of sites. They do convert on some sites. I have already done a bidvertiser review

I’ve tried all of them but only Amazon & TLA that work well for me. Jim, don’t you use cj.com? It works well for me :-)

THERE IS NO ALTERNATIVES FOR ADSENSE!!!

Do not think of Google AdSense alternatives. Yes! There is NO alternative for adsense. But what if you get banned? It costs just $100 to start a new corporation (just a bunch of legal documents!), make a new address, new email ID and start over again!

I have tried putting adsense to sites where the previous adsense account in the same site got banned, but nothing happened till now.

So, get real, if its your main business, there is NO adsense alternative…

    Hey jim ,
My site gets over 4000 Uniques a day - All from Google and Ranks 20K in Alexa and still my site never gets accepted on Value Click Media or Casalemedia .
    Any idea why?

  16. Jim Karter responded on 19 May 2008 at 5:53 am #

Ya, ValueClickMedia is quite choosy about accepting the websites. But getting into Casale should be be much of a problem. Are are choosy too, but not as much as ValueClickMedia.

The reason your site is not getting accepted, my be that they don’t have a good advertiser match for it.

i am curious how you use networks on the same site/ how many and which networks on your particular sites? if you feel like too much creates ‘ad blindness’ etc. i want to diversify as well, getting half from other than adsense…

    thanks.

  22. kent responded on 20 May 2008 at 2:11 pm #

    hi jim-

do you use image ads, text ads or both with adsense? some “experts” say image ads get ignored.

    Thanks.

  23. Carol responded on 20 May 2008 at 10:28 pm #

I’m interested at Kontera but never tried it yet. Anyway, this list is good reference and very useful to avoid scammers. Thanks.

  24. Lex responded on 23 May 2008 at 11:45 pm #

@ Genius Deepak - I think if you are going to re-apply for Adsense you will at least need to use a different IP address too. Adsense is very unstable as a source of income; it is good to “eliminate single points of failure”

between valueclick and burstmedia, burstmedia offers much higher CPM campaigns even if their fill rate is low.

at VC I get 0.25$-0.30$ CPM, which is very very very low for me
