Site Sell : Review - Good for Newbies

SiteSell ReviewI receive lots of emails from web newbies (or call them beginners) about starting their first website. They know what niche to write about. Some of them even know how to do keyword research and all other similar stuff. But most of them are not well aware of technical stuff like registering domain names, hosting, templates, SEO, marketing etc.

They know how to write content, but don’t know how to put that content online in front of the web users. Most of the times I suggest them to start with SiteSell for few months to get the idea of the things. So what is SiteSell? Is it really useful?

First thing first, if you experience of setting up your own website (domain and hosting) and have done good SEO for it, then SiteSell is surely not for you.

In my opinion SiteSell is good for people who “know how to write good content, but don’t know how to put it in front of the people surfing online.”

What is SiteSell?
SiteSell is one stop solution for beginners to start their online business. Its not just about building the website, but building your first online business. Starting from domain registration to hosting till SEO and marketing of the website. They take care of all those things for a fixed monthly fee. You can also view their video tour or just the quick tour.

How much does it cost? Is it justified?
SiteSell costs around $24.9/month ($299/year). For some people who have good experience in online business, this may look little expensive, but for beginners I think it is a good value for money. When you compare it with things like hosting ($84/yr), domain ($10/year), template ($200), SEO and marketing.

As a beginner there are chances that you may not like what you get for your money. In that case they provide any time refund guarantee. Have a look at websites they built successfully here.

Tip: If you join their affiliate program and refer one person, you get 50% discount on your purchase. 25% from your affiliate sale and 25% from rebate.

This is for a person who want to build real businesses. Meaning not for people who want fast cash, I assume. Well, if I’m having a enough maybe I’ll try it. Thanks for the review.

I have used them for 3 websites. I like them and surely recommend them. Jim I didn’t understand your last tip about 50% discount. I never got that discount. :) Anyways, I never registered for their affiliate program. I think I will do it right now.

You forgot to mention many other services they provide in this price like auto-responser etc. which itlself cost $30/month at aweber.

Jim I have question for you … Can you tell me is there any difference with search engines if domain is “.com” or if it is “.us” …

I found perfect domain for my site but it is available only with “.us” domain.

    Thanks a lot.

@harshads, No harshad. Its not a paid review. I mark the paid reviews as the top of the page only.

@somebody, for search engines, there is not difference. But people give more faith to .com instead of .us

I feel it is a bit expensive even for beginners specially when the beginner is thinking of blogging as a medium to earn money. But it may make sense for a full fledged site.

I don’t think this is expensive for a serious business or hobby maker.. as just read their site, if they really give what they have written there then it is a fair price. IMO one can make much more even after paying their fees.

I think the price is quite good for somebody who is a writer kind of person (like me) and not a web techie. SiteSell has got one client in me. Thank you Jim for the review.

Will post back my experience of using them.

SiteSell is a very very old website. I remember one of my colleague used to use it around 2 years back. He was happy using it. I am not sure what is the current status.

I know a good few people who use them, or, have used them. Some people liked them, some people just could not get it going. They never made a dime. Thanks for the review and your points of view on them. Maybe I might try them afterall.

I like SiteSell but found it over complicated and lacking in the guidance.

I tried another one from IMC - BeBiz.

They have combined the elements that site sell has, but included video training and a great marketing driven way to create a website that sells. I got my site up in a week.

Thanks for the review, but as you stated, sitesell is only for complete newbies, and not for experienced webmasters/marketeers. Even so, in my opinion, I think that newbies have to learn to build their own websites as a stand-alone solutions…
