Google AdSense Referrals Retired

Google has retired their Adsense referral program. Here is the email they sent:
Thank you for participating in the AdSense Referrals program.
We’re writing to let you know that we will be retiring the AdSense
Referrals program during the last week of August. We appreciate
your patience during this transition and here are some alternative
options to consider:
* Google Affiliate Network: As part of the integration of
DoubleClick, the DoubleClick Performics Affiliate Network will now
operate as the Google Affiliate Network for advertisers targeting
users located in the United States. Similar to the AdSense
Referrals program, the Google Affiliate Network enables publishers
to apply for advertiser programs and get paid based on
advertiser-defined actions instead of clicks or impressions. For
further details, please visit: www.google.com/ads/affiliatenetwork.
* AdSense for content ads: If you have less than three AdSense
for content ad units on a page, you may wish to replace the
referral ad units with standard AFC ad units.
If you currently use referral ads, either to promote Google
products or offerings from AdWords advertisers, AdSense Referrals
code will no longer display ads beginning the last week of August.
We encourage you to take the following steps before the product is
retired:
* Remove the referral code from your site(s): Please take a
moment to remove all referral code from your sites before the last
week of August, so you can continue to effectively monetize your
ad space.
* Run and save all referrals reports on your desktop: Create
and save all reports related to the referrals program on your
desktop, so you continue to have access to your valuable campaign
information

Wow.. This is really awesome Google coming with their own affiliate network
this is a good news , but still i think google will place their banners themselves in their search network also content network and drive traffic and get cheap conversions to make affiliate marketers competition more high..

Actually its not new network. Its just that it is being moved to DoubleClick Performics (which was bought buy Google some time back)

Aha, so circle of monopolization is almost getting completed. There was a nice article on shadyseo’s blog about google creating its own web without people knowing it.

This actually sucks right now. There are a few of the refferal ads that I was making some good money at each and every day for the past 5 months. I just signed up with the doubleclick thing today, Does anyone know how long it takes to be accepted? Also, all my refferal ads are gone but my google searches are still there, is google going to keep that?

I am new in Google adsense but I have a network of adsense websites..I checked your blog and see awesome tips from here…Well, I removed Adsense referral programs from my adsense network.
I have also received an email from Google Adsense for better search improvement so can you let me know further details please..

I have a question. If I still want to run referral ads on my website, should I sign up for Double Click , or would there be a way that Google would inform me where to get the referal code?
I haven’t had much luck with referal programs so far. I think that the best way to do referals is by contacting with the company directly.
