Squidoo Lens Tips
Here are some tips for people doing marketing through squidoo pages.
- First of all, as always, content is still the king. So get good and unique content.
- Introduction is the most important module of your lens. Use it for pre-selling. Highlight the keywords is in to let the people know that they are at right place.
- Use the introduction module to give a short review of the product you are going to sell in the content.
- Squidoo allows the use of 40 tags. Use the all 40 with all the variations possible. But use ONLY relevant tags.
- Create one Squidoo page per account. This will help in lensroll and ratings.
- You may not be knowing about a feature called lensroll (similar to blogroll, on the right bottom side of page). Add all your Squidoo lenses here.
- Enable the “Contact me” button in your profile. This will help people contact you (may be for lensroll).
- Submit your lens to sites like lensroll.com, squidom.com and squoogle.com.
- Use stumble, digg and del.icio.us to bookmark it.

- Let people know (ping) that you exist with the help of pingoat.com and squidutils.com
- Update your lens at-least a month. If you don’t have anything to update, just change a tag or image. It will keep telling squidoo that your lens is fresh.
- On the “stats” page, when you click on traffic, you will see some keywords. Some of them are the keywords with “+” in front of them. These are the keywords people used to reach you, but are not in your lens. Add them by just clicking on “+” sign.
- Market each of your lenses with at-least 5 ezine articles.
I think these are the points which are coming to my mind right now. If I remember some more, I will add them in the comments section. Do you have some more Squidoo tips of creating good Squidoo lenses? If yes, please feel free to add them by commenting.
Welcome back!

I know Squidoo works well for affiliate marketing but try to learn the max before going forward to create one for yourself. The best part is to go and visit some of the existing profiles who actively market their products so that you will get a glimpse on how to set a similar one for yourself. If you don’t abide to rules of the site then you might get banned so be careful.

@Make money, Squidoo links may be nofollow, but what difference does it make. Most probably we are not linking it to our site but direct to our affiliate network advertiser site. So it doesn’t make any difference.
@Free Work At Home, Lensroll is the most under-advertised and most unknown feature of Squidoo.

Great tips Jim.
Squidoo backlinks DO follow but sometimes they don’t show up immediately as do follow. Thats happened when I published something but the next day the links were do follow.

How does the ranking works in Squidoo?
So, first ranked in Squidoo get more visitors?
If yes, how do we get our site to rank #1 in a specified category?(By pinging the lens?)
Kindly advise.

Squidoo is a great free tool that small business owners can use to create valuable online content that points users back to their website. Squidoo lenses are one tool small business owners can use to dominate the search engines for terms their customers are searching for.

I’m curious as to why you would write only one lens per account? It seems counter-intuitive to me and you’ll loose out on a lot of adsense revenue that way because more lenses = more interest from other lensmasters and they are the ones who have quite a bit to say about lensrank as well. Single lenses won’t get much of a following.
Also, recognized names tend to get more “votes” and attention via lensroll.com. And you can only submit each one once so the best you could hope for would be a single backlink and maybe (if you’re lucky) one or two lookie-loos.
Outside of Squidoo, if organic traffic enjoys your lens they often will click on the username long before they glance at the recommendations.

Hi,
I’m new to Squidoo. You mentioned: “Create one Squidoo page per account. This will help in lensroll and ratings.” Are you saying 5 separate Squidoo account if you have 5 Squidoo pages? Can I do that … have five or six or more accounts? Thanks.
MoneyMan responded on 13 Aug 2009 at 9:02 am #
this is as thorough a best practices list on Squidoo as I have seen….great piece.
and to answer Eric’s question, yes you can have that many accounts and access all of them (be sure to include them in the lensroll)

If take the time to implement all of the elements you just listed than squidoo can be a very powerful tool. The thing I love about squidoo is you can easily move up in the rankings of squidoo giving you more link juice and better standing in the eyes of google. It is a really exciting when you get a lense in the top 100 for your category

Squidoo lenses can be very good for building backlinks back to your main site, by building up a network of lenses you can generate quite a number of backlinks
