Staying Focused and Not Getting Bored
I have seen many people who shows the highest level of enthusiasm when they start working on a new website as if they have found that secret formula in this website which will make them millionaire. But soon they lose their focus and works slow down. They starts thinking that internet business is not for them. Many of them even say “quit” to these businesses.
So, How to stay focused and not get bored?
I am not a management guru, so I don’t know how to do that. But I can tell you what I do when I get bored?
When I get bored of one site, I stop working on it and start researching for the next one. I know that this site will be of more value when I will work on it again after 6 months (or whenever I will have my enthusiasms to work on it).
When I get bored working on my sites, I go to some forums and do some link building. When I get bored of it, I spend some time researching for new niches/keywords to create site on [I love researching]. When I get bored of it, I go vacation.
So what I am trying to say here is that “diversification of your work is the key” of not getting bored. This boredom is more so in the early days when the money is not flowing from the site. When the money starts coming in, its also a major factor to boost your morale to work.
So, diversify in niches of your websites and diversify the type of work you do (contnet, SEO, coding, research etc.) on these sites. I am sure you will not get that time of boredom.

Nice point Jim, there were days when i wake up and see very low earnings in Adsense, and it was very depressing, making me think is all the effort worth it. But luckily i managed to keep on the spirit and today everything is on the right track

Thanks Jim, great post as always.
With this approach How do you maintain the consistency of link building process ? As you have advised here

Especially when you take a 5 – 6 month break from your sites ?

I agree with you 100% on this, promoting my websites and working on them takes a lot of my time and bores me a lot !!!! I used to be into real estate websites but I have decided to switch to affiliate marketing after I noticed how slow I turned.

Before starting a new blog and after checking keyword popularity, I brainstorm on my own and ask other people what they’d like to read on the blog.
Then I make a long list of topics, links, ideas, and information to keep the original excitement flowing through the blog for months.
When that’s done, I’ve written more ideas for new content and start the process again.

You are so right, I find it very difficult to focus on one niche let alone one website. the good thing is that with time generally comes favour with google so a site you forgot about 6 months ago can suddenly start making money again.

Good post.Staying focused is the most difficult part and most people quit when they don´t get any results within immediately.

I do this too, my web design skills are not spectacular, so sometimes I develop content, sometimes I flesh out new website ideas, I try to mix it up also, because I get bored doing one thing

No one will be bored if money is coming but when money is not coming everyone become bored from this job.

I wouldn’t say that I get bored when building my sites. I have a hard time finding the time to get things all done.
I’m starting new sites all the time, when I get one up and running it’s time to work on an older site again.

The good thing about web sites is that you can go work on a different one and your old one grows in domain age etc while you are gone.
