Infolinks Rocks as Kontera Alternative

I am using Kontera as in-text advertising from a long time and had very good relationship with them. I was also making some good money with them till recently. I had fixed CPM deal with them.

Few days back infolinks invited me to join and test their program for a while. I tested their program for 3 days and the results was wonderful. It created me much more money than what Kontera was creating. So I decided to move to infolinks from Kontera.

But Kontera didn’t want to loose me, so that offered me even better fixed CPM rate than infolinks. But they could not sustain it as they were not making as much money from my sites as they were paying me. So they moved me back to the CPC based plan.

So I moved my biggest sites from Kontera to infolinks. Infolinks is making me at-least 3 times of what Kontera is making me in CPC model.

My recent eCPM with infolinks is $3.00 which Kontera can never even touch I think.

Infolinks Affiliate Program
Info has their affiliate program which is not yet available to general public. You can contact their support to get it enabled for you. This program is really wonderful and out of the world. Here is the payment structure.

  1. For a small publisher referred through you, you get paid $25.
  2. If the publisher creates more than 10,000 impression per day, you get paid $100.
  3. If the publisher creates more than 100,000 impressions per day, you get paid $1000.

Wow! that is really wonderful. Its not very difficult to find publishers with more than 10,000 page view (please note, its page view and not uniques) per day. Also, on an average I think you will get 1 in 25 publishers who will be getting more than 100,000 page views a day.

So overall, INFOLINKS ROCKS - Join Now.

Thats really great Jim, but can we use infolinks along with Google Adsense, hope it does not violate their terms and conditions and we dont stand a chance of getting banned there, please express your views. :D

  3. Jim Karter responded on 16 Mar 2009 at 12:38 am #

Yes Ravinderjit. You can use infolinks.com with Google Adsense as the ads do not look alike adsense.

Nice and great opportunity to be grabbed.Thank for sharing.

I like the sound of this Jim, but I wonder if they are just giving you this deal and no one else. One thing that really bothers me is an Ad network that runs ‘Adsense for Search’ on their site. I’m sorry, but an Ad Network that uses Adsense on their own site. We are publishers. Do they think we don’t notice things like that? They are not really passing the sniff test with me.

  6. Jim Karter responded on 16 Mar 2009 at 3:12 am #

No Marc, I don’t have any particular deal with Infolink. They did offer me a fixed CPM deal, but I rejected it because what I am getting in CPC (which is their regular plan) is better than their fixed CPM plan. :)

  7. Harry responded on 16 Mar 2009 at 10:07 am #

zoki, I have many types of sites on which I tested them including (but not limited to) resume, jobs, bridal shower, wedding, medical etc. etc.) Its performing better in all of them.

  16. Murali responded on 17 Mar 2009 at 7:51 am #

    Absolutely jim

With Kontera my ecpm was about $1.5 but with infolinks my ecpm is at about $5.0 which is really incredible. Hopefully they won’t lower their payouts once they gain popularity.

  17. Murali responded on 18 Mar 2009 at 9:01 am #

Jim, could you also later do a comparison between your infolinks earnings and kontera earnings.

  18. Mega Champ responded on 18 Mar 2009 at 9:41 pm #

Nice advice Jim, time to move on from Kontera, nowadays they are collectiing pretty bad press from everywhere it seems.

  19. Jonathan Frost responded on 21 Mar 2009 at 2:29 am #

    Jim,
That’s very interesting… good one. I just had the same - Kontera offered me fixed ECPM which was higher than InfoLinks, but then after 3 weeks they said they can’t keep it up and blah blah blah… I’m never going to work with Kontera again. InfoLinks rocks! Together with Adsense, my ECPM is now higher than last year.
If you want more data just post back and I will send them too…

  20. Eric responded on 21 Mar 2009 at 5:00 am #

I also got a CPM offer from Kontera, and I accepted. They don’t move me back to the CPC until now. Do you think they will move me?

  21. Jim Karter responded on 22 Mar 2009 at 10:53 pm #

Jonathan Frost, I think Kontera seems to be in trouble. Infolinks is giving a lot of trouble to them. That is why they are doing this thing to many people.

  22. JC responded on 23 Mar 2009 at 2:11 am #

    Hi JK,
My analysis got similar results - Infolinks is growing to be the better alternative for in text. See my website for more details - http://www.intextreview.com.

Hi, I just discovered Infolinks through your website. Never heard of it before, thanks :)
One suggestion for you - when you integrate links in your blog posts, add the _blank so that it would open in a new window, not redirect in the same window. You don’t want to send your visitors away, do you?
    Have a nice day. :)

  29. Bram Europe responded on 02 Apr 2009 at 4:30 am #

I had exactly the same. I got invited and I tried them (as alternative to Chitika). I haven’t looked back since.
I reach around 11,500 views daily, get 940 clicks, which results in a CTR of 8%!
eCPM is around $1.20 though, but still better than Chitika (I must admit that I have never tried Kontera).

  30. Find Deals Online responded on 02 Apr 2009 at 5:53 pm #

Infolinks sounds very appealing I was thinking of trying Kontera but I ‘ll use infolinks instead.
    Thanks Jim.

  31. ZK@WebTrafficROI.com responded on 05 Apr 2009 at 9:33 am #

Yeah that’s very much true that Kontera is not able to provide the related ads and only two to three ads are relevant to that.

  32. MMA News responded on 07 Apr 2009 at 11:59 am #

Hello - good info - last year I used Kontera but my adsense ecpm went down so I removed it. Just used the link on this page to sign up with InfoLinks to see if they are any better - thanks!

  33. MMA News responded on 13 Apr 2009 at 7:13 pm #

Good stuff… the earnings are more compared to Kontera…Looks like I’ll be adding it on my other sites as well. Happy with the results.

I was using Kontera (through your reference) for my one of my blog but i donot think that I was making good amount of money from them.

Hence I removed them …. lets give a give try to Infolinks as well.

market economists have long said that competition is good for everyone. For sure, competition is good for users, who benefit from more choices, and it´s good for the industry because when competitors compete, the industry advances with new solutions for users.

Great post! I don’t have near the traffic that your site gets, but I just signed up for Infolinks a day or so ago. I’m still in the testing phases to see if I make more with Infolinks or Kontera.

  37. tjenarvi responded on 08 May 2009 at 11:08 am #

    Hi there Jim,

I am a newbie and I’ve been using Kontera for about 3 weeks. So far what I got is $0.01 per clicks as I can see in the Revenue column in the Kontera report.

Based on your post, should I use infolinks instead?

Oh yes, my blog is Tjenarvi.com. Hope you enjoy it, but not professional like yours :-)

    Thanks in advance..

    Best Regards

  38. Ekey responded on 09 May 2009 at 6:46 am #

I know I tried Kontera before and didn’t like it at all because it kills the load time, and it looked ugly, but I don’t care if the payout is better on infolinks, I would still stay away from it because it is not userfriendly. For a few 100 bucks, I am not going to lose my readers.

  39. tjenarvi responded on 10 May 2009 at 6:59 am #

Thanks, Ekey for your reply… :-)

Then, can we use kontera + infolinks at the same time?

Or maybe we can say “Forget about kontera and let’s move on to Infolinks” ??

  40. Mega Champ responded on 11 May 2009 at 10:24 am #

Hey @tjenarvi i dont think one can use infolinks +kontera , i read in the kontera tos sometime back. So its better to use one at a time.

  41. tjenarvi responded on 12 May 2009 at 10:03 pm #

Oh, yes, there is a TOS, I almost forget that. Thanks for your reply.

I just sign up with Info Links, hope it’s accepted :-)
